happening here what it is ain't exactly

Here are some photos and video of the protest this weekend in New York.

The video below is from Jason, man about town, patriot. (click the link to download windows media files)

1) Thousands of people go out in the bitter cold to protest our government's attempt to undo what progress civilization has made since the end of World War Two. Their spirits are raised considerably by the performance of the radical cheerleaders.

2) Protesters are prevented from walking down 57th street by confused and nervous cavalry. What little violence marred the protest was a result of the Mayor's refusal to issue a permit for marching. The police had clearly underestimated the size of the crowd, and they tried to block off cross streets to prevent people from reaching a legal rally on first avenue. The result was that thousands of people were marching up second and third avenue trying to get to first, blocking traffic from Lexington to first avenue, and from 49th street to seventieth. By preventing a march the mayor created hundreds of them and shut down the east side of Manhattan for the day. Moments after this video was filmed the police opened up this empty side-street to the crowd. No Starbucks were damaged as a result of this concession to democracy.

3) A small section of the crowd. Imagine this stretching for 18 city blocks. All I can tell you is that it was something else. Wish you were here. Vive la France.
